All About Audi TT Convertible

The Audi TT convertible is the German car maker’s popular entry into the roadster market.  The two seater Audi TT convertible has been part of the lineup for many years but saw some big changes in the 2011 model.  The new roadster is larger than its predecessor, a change also seen in the hard top coupe, and has a larger and more aggressive appearance to the grille and headlights.  The new Audi TT convertible retains the soul of the classic roadster however with a soft top that keeps the weight of the car in balance against the larger body.

The former model of the Audi TT convertible was offered with two engine choices: a four cylinder and a six cylinder.  For 2011 the redesigned car has only one engine option.  The 2.0 TFSI engine has 211 horsepower and 358 lb-fit of torque to get the car moving; the 2011 Audi TT convertible can go from zero to sixty miles per hour in 5.6 seconds, an impressive pace.

Another change to the 2011 model of the Audi TT convertible is the addition of Audi’s Quattro all wheel drive system.  This makes the Audi TT convertible the only car in its class to offer all wheel drive.  Although it offers plenty of power, the roadster has decent fuel economy with a 31 miles per gallon highway rating and a 22 miles per hour city rating.

In keeping with the company’s luxury image, the Audi TT has a redesigned interior as well, that is refined and high tech as well.  The available leather option for the seats is created with comfort in mind and is heat resistant to prevent that burning feeling on the legs on hot summer days.  Every detail is covered in the Audi TT convertible, making it a powerful, luxurious and fun to drive car that any lover of the roadster will enjoy.

Another sign of the luxury that the Audi TT convertible has be redesigned to embody is the dropping of the manual transmission from the available options.  Instead a new automatic six speed dual-clutch transmission has been added to the one availble model.  This may be disappointing to sports car enthusiasts but for those in search of a car that is both fun and easy to drive, the Audi TT convertible delivers.

This trend is expected to continue with future models of the Audi TT convertible, with luxury and power being the combination of choice and the new direction that the roadster is moving towards.  With four new colors and the strong silhouette of the new roadster, this Audi is designed to be a force on the road.

The 2011 Audi convertible is still fairly new, but as the latest models come out more and more of these roadsters should be available for purchase used, making them more affordable to those in the market for one.  Still, the Audi TT convertible carries a hefty price tag to match the luxury you can expect from the Audi name.  This convertible is a high-end choice for those who want to make an impression everywhere they go.
