All About the Farmall 560

Are you one of those people who believe in the seemingly ageless creed: They sure don’t make things like they used to? Do you think the tractors that were manufactured back in the “early days” are, by definition, sturdier and more useful than those made today? If so, you’d probably be interested in the Farmall 560, a wonderful farm tractor that is certainly built to last. Here we will discuss some of the features of the Farmall 560, including some tips on how you can find one today.

What is the Farmall 560?

The Farmall 560 is a farm/agricultural tractor manufactured by International Harvester. The first Farmall 560, an upgrade to the Farmall 450, was manufactured in 1958 and production on this model continued until 1963. The original purchase price was a mere $5,500—certainly cheap when we think about tractor prices today, but a lot of money back in the late 50s and early 60s.

The earlier models of the Farmall 560 experienced some initial problems with the drive train. It seems that the drive was not strong enough to handle the power of the engine, so in 1959 a major replacement program was sponsored by International Harvester to replace the rear end on some of the tractors which were previously sold. Since then, there have been very few—if any—problems with this fine machine. According to records supplied by International Harvester, the total number of Farmall 560s produced was 65, 982.

Farmall 560 Features

Where to Find a Farmall 560

If you’re fortunate enough to own a Farmall 560 you may want to hang on to it. Today you’ll spend much more than the original purchase price. If you’re looking for a Farmall 560, however, there are a few places you can start with. Among them are:
