How to Choose a Patio Cooler

How to Choose a Patio Cooler

If you love to entertain in your backyard, then a patio cooler is the perfect addition to your outdoor space.  There are a wide variety of choices on the market varying in size and features, so choosing the right patio cooler for your needs takes a little time and research.  But it will be well worth it; the right patio cooler is the best way to enjoy cold beverages on even the hottest day and turn your backyard gatherings into a true event.

The first thing you will need to determine is whether you want your patio cooler to be movable or not.  If you plan to keep it in the same place all the time, then you won’t need to worry about getting a patio cooler with casters.  However, if you want to be able to easily move your patio cooler around, even when it is full of ice and drinks, then one of the models on wheels is the right pick for you.

The next decision is which style of patio cooler you prefer.  There are a few available choices.  The first is a barrel style cooler, which can be either wood, metal or plastic on the outside.  These are generally a bit smaller and more affordable than some of the other choices.  You can get a barrel style patio cooler either with or without casters.  There are even models with wine storage included.

The second style of patio cooler is the chest type.  This usually has legs with casters on the bottom and a chest style cooler on the top.  Most of these coolers also have a shelf on the bottom where you can store other party goods or empty bottles and cans.  Finally, the enclosed chest style patio cooler is generally the most expensive and offers the most features.  This type is generally enclosed in wood, and the top half is the chest cooler while the bottom half is storage complete with cupboard doors.  The bottom half is perfect for storing cups, napkins, anything you don’t want chilled, such as red wine, snacks and much more.  This type of patio cooler also usually has casters for mobility.

Of course, size is a determining factor as well.  The larger the patio cooler you choose, the more expensive it will be.  It will hold a lot more ice and many more beverages, but how much you need to keep chilled at any given time depends on how large your gatherings typically are.

Whether you want a simple patio cooler that can keep a few beverages cool while you spend time with your family outside, or a top of the line patio cooler that offers both style and plenty of storage, there is a perfect option for you.  A patio cooler makes it easy to have cold beverages right on hand without the cost of an outdoor refrigerator and is perfect for anyone who doesn’t have the budget to build a backyard kitchen.  Simple but effective, a patio cooler will make your backyard barbecues and other parties even better.
