The Best Vacuum For Pet Hair Removal

The Best Vacuum For Pet Hair Removal

If you have pets, you know that pet hair can be a huge problem, whether on your carpets, your bare floors, or your furniture.  Finding the best vacuum for pet hair is the easiest way to make cleaning up after those shedding pets a lot easier on you.  There are plenty of vacuums on the market today, and the price range on them is widely varied, so narrowing the choices down is necessary, in order to choose the best vacuum for pet hair.

Bagless vs. Bagged Vacuums

The best vacuum for pet hair is a subject of much disagreement, but here are a few things to consider when choosing.  The first is whether you want a bagless or bagged vacuum.  While bagless vacuums do save money on buying bags, bear in mind that when you empty the container from a bagless vacuum, you run the risk of releasing all that pet hair that has been stored there.  For this reason it is best to empty your bagless vacuum either outside or in a place where it is easy to clean up if any should escape.  The last thing you want is to have to spend extra time cleaning up all the pet hair you just finished vacuuming up.

Upright vs. Canister Vacuums

Another thing to consider is an upright vacuum versus a canister vacuum.  While upright choices are the most common today, there are benefits to choosing a canister vacuum.  Many uprights make it difficult to clean under furniture easily, and if you want the best vacuum for pet hair that is under the bed as well, a canister might make some sense.  The one downside is that canister vacuums can be difficult to move around and store.

There are vacuums on the market that are advertised as being specifically designed to deal with pet hair.  While they might indeed be very good as cleaning up pet hair, that does not mean that a vacuum with this designation is necessarily the best vacuum for pet hair.  There are many vacuums that will deal with pet hair just as easily even though they aren’t advertised that way.

Features of the Best Vacuum for Pet Hair

What you need in a vacuum for pet hair is good suction, a filter that won’t clog, and the ability to clean furniture as well as floors.  Look for a variety of attachment tools that will allow you to get the pet hair off of your furniture with ease.  Washable filters, rather than those you have to replace, will save you money, and if the pet hair in question is cat hair which is very fine, you will want to clean that filter regularly.  Also, along with cat hair comes cat litter, and the dust from cat litter can really clog your filter as well.

The Best Vacuum Brands

A few of the best names in vacuums today also provide some of the best vacuum for pet hair options.  Dyson is one of the best vacuums on the market and performs very well on pet hair.  Unfortunately, the Dyson vacuum is very expensive and may not be in the budget for everyone.  You can still get a great vacuum at a great price however, if you can’t afford the Dyson.  The best vacuum for pet hair in a lower price range may well be the Shark Navigator, which is designed to deal with the toughest pet hair and uses a system similar to that of the Dyson that does not lose suction as you vacuum.  Both of these vacuums are bagless choices.  Another great option is the Hoover Wind Tunnel vacuum, which is also a bagless and does not lose suction like most bagged vacuums do.  This is another mid-range price option and does very well on pet hair as well.

A HEPA Filter

The best vacuum for pet hair will also have a good HEPA filter, which helps to clear the allergens out of the air.  This is especially important for anyone who has pet allergies or if you have friends or family members with allergies.  It will allow them to visit your home with less discomfort.

Finding the best vacuum for pet hair isn’t difficult, but you should be prepared to spend more than you would for a basic vacuum.  Those vacuums in the higher range will have stronger, better suction and provide a better pet hair cleaning experience than their cheaper counterparts.
