  • Menu development
  • Maintaining inventory and purchasing supplies
  • Responsible for producing and presenting a number of different pastries and baked goods
  • Oversees pasty staff in Executive Chef’s absence

A career as an Assistant Pastry Chef usually requires 4-6 years experience working as a pastry staff member and may, depending on where you look for work, require a 4-Year Bachelors degree in a particular specialty area.  On average, an Assistant Pastry Chef salary will range in the neighborhood of 35,000-$45,000 annually.

Executive Pastry Chef:  Job Description and Salary Information

The Executive Pastry Chef is directly responsible for the entire baked goods and pastry operation which includes, but is not limited to the following:

  • Menu development
  • Maintaining inventory and purchasing supplies
  • Monitors customer satisfaction
  • Directly responsible for the Assistant Pastry Chef and pasty kitchen staff
  • Developing new recipes
  • Budget development and maintenance

A position as an Executive Pastry Chef usually requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a related specialty field and 7+ years of experience working in a pastry kitchen.  Depending on where an Executive Pastry Chef is employed, he/she can expect to earn anywhere from $50,000 to $80,000 annually.
