The Truth About Cellulite Gel

The Truth About Cellulite Gel

Cellulite is a problem that affects many people of all ages, mostly women, and is incredibly hard to get rid of. There are many products on the market meant to help reduce cellulite, from expensive treatments to creams. Cellulite gel is one of the various choices available to those seeking to reduce the appearance of cellulite. But does cellulite gel really work, or is it a product that promises more than it delivers?

Cellulite is a type of fat deposit that appears in the connective tissue, creating an uneven, bumpy and dimpled look to the skin’s surface. Because the connective tissue patterns on women are different than men, cellulite tends to be a bigger problem in the female population. Cellulite gel is intended to smooth the surface of the skin and make the dimpled appearance less noticeable.

Removing cellulite entirely is nearly impossible and thus definitely not something a cellulite gel can accomplish. Because the cellulite appears beneath the surface of the skin, no surface treatment will be able to actually remove it. This said, cellulite gel and other such treatments can improve the appearance of the skin and reduce some of the lumpiness.

Most of the cellulite gel brands on the market contain similar ingredients. L-carnitine and caffeine are both well known to be effective at reducing the appearance of cellulite. It may even be that the act of massaging a cellulite gel into the surface of the skin regularly can break down the fat deposits somewhat and help reduce the appearance. Most of the effects of a cellulite gel are temporary; if you discontinue use of the gel the cellulite will probably become worse again. However, users of some of the various cellulite gel options on the market do report an improvement.

Using a cellulite gel is one of the easiest and most affordable ways to reduce cellulite. For long term or stronger results, however, you will probably have to consider a surgical procedure, which can do a lot more towards getting rid of those ugly lumps. For most people, surgery isn’t an option either because of finances or simply not having a desire to go under the knife. Using a cellulite gel or other topical treatment is the easiest way to make a difference.

There are a number of brands offering a cellulite gel as part of their skin care line. Big names such as Nivea and L’Oreal as well as high end brands like Chanel all offer their own version of the cellulite gel. The cost of the gel does not seem to have a huge bearing on how effective it is at reducing cellulite, however, so save your money and go for a drugstore brand, especially if it is your first attempt at using a cellulite gel. If you don’t get the results you want, at least you won’t have put out a lot of money in the process.

Cellulite gel can be expected to provide some improvement, but don’t expect to get rid of cellulite altogether. So far, beauty products have not been able to make that happen.
