Biotin is a vitamin that the body needs to function properly. Symptoms of a biotin deficiency can include hair loss or thinning, skin rashes, depression and other emotional symptoms. There has been a study with rats where Biotin side effects were recorded. Large doses of biotin given to pregnant rats resulted in smaller placentas and higher risks of miscarriage. These cases of Biotin side effects have created concern over the use of the supplement; however, at this time the FDA still considers Biotin safe.
